Focused on details. Driven by empathy.
Committed to results.
Melanie has always been drawn to complex problems. With a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking, law felt like a natural fit, but it was her early experience with New Brunswick Legal Aid that confirmed she had chosen the right path.
While volunteering with Legal Aid during law school, Melanie saw firsthand just how confusing and overwhelming the legal system can be for the people trying to navigate it. Working alongside experienced lawyers and helping clients understand that system sparked a passion for advocacy that continues to shape her practice today.
Melanie practices litigation, accident and injury and personal injury law, insurance law, family law, and wills and estates. She was introduced to personal injury work early in her legal training and was immediately drawn to the combination of detailed legal analysis, litigation strategy, and very real human impact. It is an area of law that demands both precision and empathy, two qualities that come naturally to her approach.
Detail-oriented, diligent, and focused, Melanie also believes that being a good lawyer means being accessible. Clients have appreciated her willingness to answer their questions, explain each step of the litigation process, and take the time to listen. That sympathetic ear is an important part of how she practices: understanding not only the legal problem in front of her, but also how it is affecting the person experiencing it.
Community involvement has reinforced that perspective. In addition to her time with New Brunswick Legal Aid, Melanie volunteered with Ronald McDonald House Charities through the Moncton Hospital. Having known families who relied on those services during extended hospital stays with their children, she saw the difference that something as simple as a home-cooked meal, a treat, or a welcoming place for a child to play can make during an incredibly difficult time.
Melanie was drawn to Bingham Law by the firm’s reputation for high-quality advocacy and the opportunity to work alongside lawyers committed to legal excellence. She found a supportive environment that encourages lawyers to continue developing professionally while giving them the opportunity to build and grow a practice of their own. For Melanie, it’s the kind of environment in which she plans to do exactly that.
